STEP® Heating Elements use only the energy necessary to maintain an even temperature. They cannot overheat. When the ambient temperature increases, the morphology of the polymer structure changes and the particles separate reducing the points of contact between each other. As the electrical resistance increases less current can circulate and the emission of heat decreases.
STEP® Heating Element can be adapted to fit specific applications. The heat generated by the elements is obtained by altering either: a) the voltage; b) the width; c) the thickness; d) the distance between bus braids; e) the composition of the conductive compound.

STEP® is the safest electric system on the market. The STEP® heating elements operate at an extra-low voltage (24 volts, AC or DC). Using safety extra-low voltage (SELV) is one of several means to protect against electrical shock. The safety of a SELV circuit is provided by the extra-low voltage (under 30 volts) and the risk of accidental contact with a higher voltage.
STEP® heating elements should not be grounded. The safety of a SELV circuit lacks a return path through a ground source so that an electric current cannot come in contact with a human body. Using direct current (DC) produces a static field, which does not induce electric currents in humans. STEP® has a low electric magnetic field.
STEP® heating elements are normally connected to a 24 volt transformer, and can also be powered by solar or wind sources.
